We have clinical trials in the following areas:
Schizophrenia
- Consortium on the Genetics of Schizophrenia
(COGS)
- This is a collaborative research project with The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Harvard University, Mount Sinai, UCLA, UCSD, U. of Colorado, U. of Pennsylvania, and the University of Washington to learn more about the genetic basis of schizophrenia.

- Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder
- An outpatient research study on 2 FDA-approved medications

Research on Cognition
- Early Visual Processing (EVP)
- The main purpose of this research project is to gather information
on the nature of problems in perception and attention in schizophrenia.

- Measurement and Treatment
Research to Improve Cognition in Schizophrenia (MATRICS)
- The MATRICS program has brought together representatives of academia, industry, and government in a consensus process for addressing obstacles that are likely to interfere with the development of pharmacological agents for treating cognition in schizophrenia.
- Treatment Units for Research
on Neurocognition and Schizophrenia (TURNS)
- The TURNS program is a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) supported network that will provide an infrastructure for clinical studies of pharmacological agents for enhancing neurocognition in patients with schizophrenia.
Rehabilitation and Outcome Research
- Innovative
Methods for Improving Work Outcome
- This project has two primary aims:
- to develop a training manual to be used by employment specialists to teach their severely mentally ill clients how to perform basic work skills
- to conduct a pilot study to test the efficacy of the training method with a small group of employment specialists and 40 schizoaffective disorder outpatients participating in a transitional employments program.
- Predicting Psychosocial
Rehabilitation Service Outcome
- The purpose of this project is to learn more about the factors that may affect how a person with schizophrenia functions in the community, including their success at work, satisfaction with family and friends and how well they benefit from they services received.
Depression
- Assessment for Psychological Pain
- A research study which may help to identify a core symptom of depression, called psychological pain.

BiPolar Disorder
- Bipolar I Disorder and Depression
- An outpatient research study on a FDA-approved medication that may help individuals with Bipolar I disorder and Depression
- Geriatric Depression with High Anxiety
- A study using an FDA approved antidepressant medication
